About the Scholarship

We are pleased to present the Walter Ostrom Scholarship for Ceramics.

A seminal teacher for four generations of ceramic artists, Professor Walter Ostrom is now retiring from NSCAD University. While the Ceramics department has moved locations and evolved over the years that Walter has been teaching, the enduring force behind it has not changed—talented, hardworking students for whom scholarships are a source of motivation and endorsement.

NSCAD University invites you to help us celebrate the enormous legacy of Professor Walter Ostrom. We are asking you, former students, colleagues and friends, to join our effort to establish the Walter Ostrom Scholarship for Ceramics; a permanent and annual acknowledgement and reward for student achievement in Ceramics.

Studio-based curriculums results in higher costs for students than a lecture-based university programs. For many talented students, the price can be prohibitive. The university believes in providing access to its world-class education through the provision of scholarships, bursaries and awards. Our aim is to ensure that all students wishing to pursue a career in the visual arts, regardless of their circumstances, can achieve their goals and realize their potential.
